Ashley Matsumura, COTA/L — Owner,
Ashley is a pediatric Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant with over eight years of experience supporting children and families through compassionate, relationship-based care. As the founder of Mindful Development Pediatric Therapy, Ashley is deeply committed to creating safe, supportive environments where children can heal, grow, and thrive.
Her work is rooted in trauma-informed care, recognizing that every child’s nervous system, history, and lived experience matters. Ashley believes true progress happens when children feel understood, regulated, and empowered — not pressured. She specializes in feeding therapy, pelvic floor therapy, and reflex integration, allowing her to support children with complex sensory, emotional, and developmental needs from a whole-body perspective.
Ashley is especially passionate about working with children who have experienced early stress, medical challenges, or disruptions in attachment. She partners closely with families, caregivers, and schools to build practical strategies that help children feel successful in their daily routines — from eating and sleeping to play, learning, and emotional regulation.
Through Mindful Development, Ashley has created a practice centered on connection, curiosity, and confidence, where families feel supported and children are celebrated for who they are — not just what they can do.
